The team at Insurance Compliance Services is pulling on their boots and has pledged to walk five kilometres or more a day for the month of March in aid of WaterAid’s Stand with Women project.
The challenge has been launched to coincide with International Women’s Day, which takes place on March 8th, and has been developed to raise awareness of how far some women have to walk each day simply to get access to water.

Jill Hambley, managing director, Helen Dean, Head of Intermediary Consultancy North and colleagues including Rob Cawthorne and Jane Davis (who came up with the idea) have all promised to walk 155km or more over the course of March.
Jill commented: “We wanted to do something to mark International Women’s Day and WaterAid’s Stand with Women project is the perfect fit. We’re delighted Rob is putting on his trainers and joining us. He’s always been a great advocate for women in the workplace and his promise to walk with us is an extension of that.”
ICS is hoping to raise £500 for WaterAid when it completes the project.
WaterAid stated on its website: “Around the world, women and girls are being held back by having to walk 5km or more for water every day, taking away their hopes for the future as they miss out on paid work or school. Show solidarity - walk 155km over the month or 5km every day and raise funds to make sure no woman or girl is held back by a lack of clean water.”
ICS runs an initiative to support International Women’s Day each year. Last year the team hosted webinars focusing on diversity and inclusion and the menopause to help support women in the workplace.
