FCA simplifies insurance rules and proposes other clarifications and simplifications

February 2, 2026

In December, the FCA announced its publication of Policy Statement PS25/21, in which it set out what it sees as simplifications of insurance-related Handbook rules and requirements.  These changes apply to insurers, Lloyd’s Managing Agents, Insurance intermediaries, and firms that provide funeral plans. The new rules came into force on 9th December 2025, but some of these changes are optional, “to give firms greater flexibility”.

The FCA has also published Consultation Papers CP25/35 (Quarterly Consultation No. 50), CP25/36 and CP25/37, and a Consumer Duty statement on co-manufacturing.  All of these publications are covered in two Hot TopICS publications in January.
